An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 1/2" x 15 1/2" [27 x 39 cm]; 20 pages) (Learn More) The Market of Souls, the 1919 Joseph de Grasse silent World War I (WWI) romantic love triangle brothers melodrama ("Supervised by Thomas H. Ince"; "By John Lynch"; a wild story of a nurse who goes to New York City and gets mixed up with a married brother and his shy unmarried brother; the married brother makes advances on her and his wife is furious, and the other brother ends up hit in the head and blinded, and the nurse not only secretly arranges to nurse the blinded brother, but she also convinces the married brother to join the Army; at the movie's climax, the blinded brother regains his sight, and he initially hates the nurse because he thinks she broke up his brother's marriage, but then the brother in the army is killed, and his "spirit" visits the formerly blinded brother and confesses that the nurse was innocent!) starring Philo McCullough, Dorothy Dalton, Dorcas Matthews, Holmes Herbert, and Donald MacDonald. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of 21 silent Paramount pressbooks that were in a bound volume. Each was carefully removed, so there is slight paper loss at the spine (and likely the other three borders were slightly trimmed to make them even, but only blank border areas were affected), and otherwise, most of the pressbooks are in really nice condition, although two have cuts, which are of course noted (and of course, the chances of finding these in any condition are very slim!). We are auctioning all 21 of these, in 21 separate auctions. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was removed from a bound volume (see above). There are smudges in the white areas of the cover. There is a faint stain in the upper right blank border of all pages. Otherwise, the pressbook is in really nice condition, and the pages are not at all fragile. Learn More about condition grades
