An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

The Man Who Changed His Mind (released in the U.S. as "The Man Who Lived Again" and also as "Dr. Maniac"), the 1936 Robert Stevenson English science fiction (sci-fi) mad scientist fantasy romantic horror melodrama ("Karloff as a Love Crazed Scientist!"; about a scientist who finds a way to "copy" people's brains into another person, so that what you know is not lost when you die; he has a rich benefactor and a beautiful young assistant, and when the benefactor withdraws his support, and the assistant rejects him, it sends him over the edge, and he becomes a "mad scientist"!) starring Boris Karloff, Anna Lee, John Loder, Frank Cellier, Lynn Harding, and Donald Calthrop. Note that this movie is mostly forgotten today, but those who have seen it all agree that it is one of Karloff's best non-monster movies of the 1930s, and that it is quite entertaining and worth seeing! Also note that there is an oddity with this movie, which is that all the first release stills have Anna Lee billed as "Anne Lee"!

Important Added Info: Note that this English movie was released in the U.S. as "The Man Who Lived Again", and all original U.S. paper I have seen for this movie has that title (I have never seen any paper with the original English title "The Man Who Changed His Mind"). The movie was re-released in the U.S. in the late 1930s or early 1940s, and for that re-release, it was given the title of "Dr. Maniac". This lobby card is an original 1936 lobby card that was re-used for that re-release, and so each card has a paper snipe over the original title with the re-release title, but they are DEFINITELY original release lobby cards (and any restorer could remove the paper snipes, if the owner wished to do so)!
NOTE: Most lobby cards from before 1940 (and some from after that date) did not have individual lobby card numbers like later lobby cards (those printed after the advent of NSS in 1940) did. So we have arbitrarily assigned numbers to unnumbered lobby cards, only when we sell more than one from a set, so that there is a convenient way to tell different scenes apart. (Note that we do not use #1, because this is commonly used to signify the title card). The exception to this is sets of cards that did not have title cards.

Condition: good to very good. There is a paper snipe over the title . Someone wrote the original title in pen in the bottom blank border. There was a 6" tear at the right edge of the image background, and someone put two pieces of tape on the back of parts of the tear. There are tiny bits of paper loss in the left blank corners. There are two staple holes in the center of the card, and one is at the edge of Karloff's nose. There are two dots of surface paper loss in the top and bottom of Karloff's cheek. There is a faint vertical smudge in the girl's lip and chin. There are some creases, smudges, and pinholes around the edges of the card. While this card does have REAL defects, it is also clear that it still displays pretty well, and any talented restorer could greatly improve its appearance. After proper restoration, this great card would look fantastic! Other than the two pieces of tape on the back described above, this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has there been any tape on the front or back of the card. The back of the card is completely blank, with no writing or stamps.
