An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

The Hell Diggers, the 1921 Frank Urson silent romantic family relationship melodrama ("Story and Scenario by Byron Morgan"; about a construction foreman who falls in love with the daughter of a farmer who will be hurt by the foreman's task) starring Wallace Reid, Lois Wilson, Alexander Brown, Frank Leigh, and Lucien Littlefield. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Not only that, but it appears that inserts were first made in 1920, and apparently very few were made at first (perhaps only for major movies), as we have only auctioned one insert that is earlier than this one, and that was from William S. Hart's 1920 movie, The Testing Block. We have never auctioned any other 1920 or 1921 inserts other than that one and now this one. The next earliest inserts are six different ones we auctioned from 1922, so even then, either very few were made, or very few survive, or both. They clearly are incredibly rare (we don't know why that should be, because, while one-sheets from movies of these years are rare, they do turn up for most of the movies, but never inserts!).

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a pinhole in each corner. It has a small tear with slightly scrunched paper in the center of the tear in the right of the bottom border, above the "c" of "Picture". There are a few creases in the bottom 1-2" of the poster. Otherwise, the poster is in really nice condition, and it is surprisingly hardly fragile at all, which seems amazing, given that it is just under 100 years old.
