An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Infidel, the 1922 James Young South Seas romantic love triangle melodrama (about a woman who travels with a group of Christian missionaries to a tropical island, and their minister covets her, as does a local "nabob", and she doesn't want either of them, and the enraged nabob threatens to kill all the Christians, and the marines show up at the end to save everybody) starring Katharine MacDonald, Robert Ellis, Joseph Dowling, Boris Karloff (as the nabob), and Melbourne MacDowell. Note that Boris Karloff was in his fourth year of making movies, and he seemed to be settling in to playing menacing villains, often exotic types, as in this movie. Of course, his greatest years were still almost a decade off!

Important Added Info: Note that 17 and 18 years ago, we auctioned a total of 4 lobby cards (none of which pictured Boris Karloff), but other than that, we have never auctioned any movie paper from this early Boris Karloff movie! Also note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good. There is a small tear in the middle of the left blank border and a few tiny tears in the top blank border, and all were repaired with white tape from the back. There is a faint 5" vertical crease in the lower left border that extends into the image area, but it is not very noticeable or distracting from the front. Other than the above defects (which mostly only affect blank white border areas), the card is in nice condition.
