An Original Vintage Souvenir Program Book (measures 7 1/4" x 10" [18 x 25 cm]; 18 pages) (Learn More) Sweet Inniscarra, the 1932 Emmett Moore Irish Ireland romantic melodrama ("Ireland's first talking picture"; "The heart of Ireland") starring Sean Rodgers, Mae Ryan, Bernard Cantwell, John Connolly, Mai Connolly, and Edmond Clifford. Note that Emmett Moore made silent movies for 20 years, trying to establish a true Irish film industry. In 1931, he found some rich men willing to finance this, the first talking picture made in Ireland. The movie was filmed in the winter of 1931, when the weather in Inniscarra is incredibly harsh, and they also shot some of the movie in Dublin, having first obtained the permission of the government of the Irish Free State. It was hoped that this movie would lead to a successful Irish film industry, but that was mostly a dream. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
