An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Rex Beach's The Spoilers, the 1930 Edward Carewe Alaska gold mining romantic melodrama ("Rex Beach's immortal story"; "You've never seen this picture before!"; "Strong Men - in their grim struggle! Women- of one kind or another! Love-hate-conflict in a land where a weakling didn't belong!"; "Greatest of Yukon romances!"; based on the novel "by Rex Beach"; about three men who have a gold mine in Alaska, but local crooks who run the town try to legally steal it away from them) starring Gary Cooper, Kay Johnson, Betty Compson, William 'Stage' Boyd, Harry Green, Slim Summerville, Oscar Apfel, and William Farnum (in a bit part as a fight spectator; he played the original hero in the 1914 version of this movie!). Note that there were two silent movies based on this same Rex Beach novel (in 1914 and 1923), and two later sound versions (in 1942 and 1956). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in recent auctions we have auctioned small photos of theater fronts from the 1930s and 1940s. Now we have been consigned a really cool collection of mostly 1930s 8x10 stills that show theater fronts and lobby displays (many of them have a stamp from a Boston company on the back, so it seems likely that most or all of them are from theaters in the Boston area)! All of those stills are in this set of auctions (in separate auctions). So this is a rare opportunity to purchase vintage 8x10 stills showing theater fronts from the 1930s (and since we have only auctioned a tiny number of these over all our years of auctioning, there is a good chance that it will be a long time before we have more of them).
