An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

Roxie Hart, the 1942 William A. Wellman Chicago Illinois crime murder comedy ("The low-down story of a high class gal!"; "The gal who became a national pastime!"; "The picture story of my life! [or why I shot my boy friend!]"; "'I was just a lonely, country girl in the big city...'"; "'This was my simple, happy home before fame came to me.'"; "'How was I to know he wasn't a friend?'"; "'The reporters forced themselves upon me!'"; "'...I was thrown into a cold, bare jail cell!'"; "Produced and Written for the Screen by Nunnally Johnson"; "Based upon the play 'Chicago' written by Maurine Watkins") starring Ginger Rogers (in the title role as Roxie Hart), Adolphe Menjou (as Billy Flynn), George Montgomery, Lynne Overman, Nigel Bruce, Sara Allgood, William Frawley, Spring Byington, Ted North, Helene Reynolds, and Phil Silvers. Note that this play was first made into a movie under the name "Chicago" in 1927, and in 2002 it was remade into a movie musical featuring Rene Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere, again under the title "Chicago".

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and there was tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and creases and scuffs on parts of many foldlines. There were pinholes and creases around the edges of the poster and some smudges and stains in the white background areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a thin linen backing, with no excess linen, and it is lifting from the linen and slightly torn at the left of the top foldline. If I owned this poster, I would have it removed from this linen and re-backed, and after proper restoration in the background areas and on the foldlines, the poster would look great!
