An Undated (probably late teens or early 20s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Heart of Texas Ryan, the 1917 E.A. Martin silent cowboy western starring ("Story by Gilson Willet") Tom Mix, George Fawcett, Bessie Eyton (in the title role as Texas Ryan), Frank Campeau, and William Ryno. The original title of this movie was "The Light Of The Western Stars", a classic Zane Grey story, but Selig had not bothered to buy the rights, so they had to change the title, and later there were several movies made under the original title. In 1923, Exclusive Features reissued this movie and re-titled it "Single Shot Parker." If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that in the earliest days of lobby cards (mostly between 1915 and 1918), lobby sets were usually NINE cards. There were eight scene cards, and an additional "title card", that was REALLY a title card, because it normally just had text on it with the title of the movie and the credits, but no image. Some time at the end of the 1910s, studios realized they could print lobby cards on two half-sheet-sized sheets and then trim them into eight lobby cards, which saved a lot of money, and at that time they eliminated the title card and changed one of the scene cards into a modern day title card (with both image and credits), and the eight card lobby card has remained the standard to the present day. The title card offered here is one of those late 1910s true title cards!

UPDATED 05/20/2011: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that this lobby card is from a late teens or very early 20s re-release and NOT the 1917 first release as we initially listed. Please do not bid thinking it is from the 1917 first release.

Condition: good to very good. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card!
