An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The African Queen, the classic 1952 (the movie briefly played in December of 1951, no doubt to qualify for the 1952 Academy Awards, but most sources list it as a 1952 movie) John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English/U.S. romantic World War I (WWI) military adventure thriller ("Actually filmed in the splendor and dangers of the Belgian Congo!"; "The mightiest adventure ever filmed!"; "Based on the novel 'The African Queen' by C.S. Forester") starring Humphrey Bogart (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Katharine Hepburn (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Robert Morley, Peter Bull, Theodore Bikel, Walter Gotell, Peter Swanwick, and Richard Marner. Note that although this movie opened at the end of 1951, all of the original release U.S. movie paper for this title has a 1952 NSS number (but has a 1951 copyright date). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still likely has a stamp on the back in the form of a diamond that has the letters "TRR". One certainly might wonder who placed this stamp there and why. The answer is that 146 of the stills in this set of auctions come to us from a still collector who has collected for many decades, and long ago he began stamping the back of almost his stills with this stamp, and "TRR" is his initials! We said earlier "likely has", because while this collector stamped most of his stills, he did not stamp every one, so you can see for yourself if this is one of the stamped ones by looking at our image of the back of the still. Each of those stamped stills are stamped lightly, and the stamp does NOT affect the front of the still. He is a VERY advanced collector, and he has consigned many wonderful stills to us! Condition: very good. The still has slightly darkened around the edges but is otherwise in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
