a lot of 10 Dick Powell photos and more. Note that these items were contained in a scrapbook of a man who became friends with Dick Powell when the man was serving in the military in World War II. They exchanged a number of letters, and after the war, they met in person. The man started a scrapbook where he glued in candid photos he had taken of Mr. Powell, three Associated Press tear sheets about Mr. Powell, and a glassine sheet with an art portrait of Mr. Powell from 1947. We were consigned this scrapbook, and we will be auctioning the personally signed letters from Mr. Powell in our next autograph auction, but THIS auction is for the remaining items from the scrapbook (see our images). Dick Powell was an actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. Some of his movies include: Just Around the Corner, Gold Diggers of 1933, Murder, My Sweet, Footlight Parade, and The Bad and the Beautiful. He was a light romantic musical star in the 1930s (and he released several albums during this period), and then he completely "reinvented" himself in the 1940s, playing tough guys in movies such as "Murder, My Sweet"! He was married to actresses Joan Blondell and June Allyson. He was one of the many actors who died from cancer after filming the 1956 film The Conqueror, which was shot downwind from nuclear weapons testing sites. He passed away in 1963 at the age of 58. Note that the items in this lot are from the 1940s to the 1960s.
Measurements: from 4" x 5" to 8 1/2" x 20 1/2"

Condition: good to very good. The photos have changed to a sepia color. The other items have wear and some paper loss in the blank borders (see our images).
