An Original Vintage German Magazine (measures 9" x 11 1/4" [23 x 29 cm]) (Learn More)

Das Plakat (literally translates to "The Poster"), the early German magazine devoted to posters, issues of which are highly sought after by collectors, because they contained incredible color and black & white art of posters printed on quality paper stock, and they even have some tipped-in images. It was published in the late 1910s and early 1920s (at least), and any issues of it are extremely rare and desirable.
Artist: Paul Leni
Important Added Info: Note that this is the October 1920 issue of this magazine and it is the issue that is most sought after by collectors, because it is a special issue devoted solely to movie posters (other issues covered all kinds of posters)! The cover art on this issue is by Paul Leni, who became a legendary German director. There are 14 wonderful color plates scattered throughout the magazine (many of posters and poster designs from expressionist German films of this time). There are many posters by Josef Fenneker and Otto Arpke (Arpke worked on the posters for "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"). There is one page that has two "tipped-in" color postcards with art from 1919's "Alraune und der Golem", and the reverse side of that page has a tipped-in herald. This is an amazing publication (see our many images)! Note: We have 15 images of the magazine, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 15 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 5.

Condition: very good to fine. There is a small stamp in the top right corner of the cover. The back cover and the last dozen or so pages have a diagonal crease in the top right corner. There is some minor wear on the covers and the tiniest of paper loss at the spine. Otherwise, the magazine is in really nice condition, especially considering it is nearly a century old!
