An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #4 (Trapped) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26 1/4" x 40 3/4" [67 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Diamond Master, the 1929 Jack Nelson silent diamond-counterfeiting crime serial ("Story by Jacques Futrelle") starring Louise Lorraine, Hayden Stevenson, Al Hart, Monte Montague, Louis Stern, and Walter Maly. Note that this is a lost film. If the name of the man who wrote the story this movie is based on, Jacques Futrelle, is familiar to you, it would likely be because he wrote a series of short detective stories with a hero named Professor Augustus S.F.X. Van Dusen, known as "The Thinking Machine". This series of stories predated those with similar detective heroes like Nero Wolfe by a couple of decades, but, unfortunately, Monsieur Futrelle perished on the Titanic in 1912, and his hero ended with him, which made it a double tragedy. Also note that we were unable to find a plot summary of this silent serial, which seems a shame, given the story was written by such an illustrious writer. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1929 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single lobby card and a single still from this movie until we received this one-sheet! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/4" x 40 3/4" [67 x 104 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had a second horizontal fold 1 1/2" above the regular top one. It had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and creases, scuffs, and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with smudges, stains, and a few pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
