An Original Vintage Folded Circus Poster (measures 111" x 165" [282 x 419 cm]) (Learn More)

Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey, the 1945 circus poster ("The Greatest Show on Earth") featuring great artwork of sexy women and big cats by Bill Bailey! Note that the poster is both dated and has the artist's signature (Bill Bailey) in the lower left! The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years.
Artist: Bill Bailey
Important Added Info: Note that this circus poster was printed in 10 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster needs to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 17" x 25" x 2", so it will cost more to send than items that fit in our standard flat packages, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses.

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S.

Condition: fair to good. The poster was in 10 sections, but several of them are glued together. The poster is quite fragile and has tears and small areas of paper loss on parts of many folds, and there is a small piece that is completely separated from the rest of the poster (but will be sent with it). But the poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image, but please bear in mind its defects (and look at our super-sized image) and bear in mind the cost of restoration before bidding on this very rare poster.
