Traffic in Souls or While New York Sleeps, the 1913 George Loane Tucker silent New York City Swedish-immigrant-girls-sold-into-prostitution-by-gangster sex crime melodrama ("The Great White Slave Photo Drama"; "Six Reels of Thrilling Realities"; "A Powerful Photo-Drama of Today"; "6 Parts 700 Scenes 600 Players") starring Jane Gail, Ethel Grandin, William H. Turner, Matt Moore, and William Welsh. Note that this is one of the first productions of Universal Studios, and it is interesting to note that one of the greatest of studios started off making an exploitation movie (which made lots of money, and helped Carl Laemmle to expand his studio and become one of the leading Hollywood studios). Also note that, at a cost of $25,000, it was reported to be the most expensive feature film made to that time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
