Note that this movie is infamously gory and for years it was rumored that real human cadavers were used. Most sources say that it was first released in the U.S. in 1984, and like many other low-budget exploitation "shock" films, it was in continuous first release for years (we've seen newspaper ads for theatrical showings for as late as 1987).
