A Group of 2 Photographic Negatives (measure 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" [4 x 4 cm]) (Learn More) Susan Hayward (born Edythe Marrenner) was an actress from the 1930s to the 1970s. She started in the late 1930s, and became a star in the 1940s, and at an age when many other actress' careers started to fade, she continued strong, and had some of her best roles in the 1940s. Some of her movies include: With A Song In My Heart (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), I'll Cry Tomorrow (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), I Want To Live (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Valley of the Dolls, The Conqueror, My Foolish Heart (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Smash-Up (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Beau Geste. Sadly, she passed away in 1975 from brain cancer, and she was only 57. She was one of the actors exposed to radiation while filming 'The Conqueror', which may have contributed to her illness. Important Added Info: Note that these two images show Miss Hayward in 1971, but they are sent to newspapers in 1975, on the day after she passed away (as explained on the front and back of the paper envelope they are contained in. The negatives come with an envelope that has a news caption glued onto it. Note that this (or these, in the case of multiple negatives) was created by and sent by the studio that produced this (in the year noted on this auction) to newspapers, magazines, TV stations, or reviewers, so that they could use them to create the highest quality ads. They can be used to make very high quality reproductions, but bear in mind that we are solely auctioning the physical negatives and NOT the right to reproduce them, so unless they are public domain, the new owner must acquire the rights elsewhere before reproducing them. NOTE THAT THE ITEM(S) YOU ARE PURCHASING IS A "NEGATIVE" THAT HAS A REVERSE IMAGE, AS SEEN IN OUR PHOTO (we also scanned them as well, using a special "negative setting", which reverses the image, so that you can see how the negative appears when you reverse the image, but the buyer of this auction will receive one or more negatives, NOT a positive image, as seen in our special scan).
