A Folded Italian Special Poster (measures 25" x 44 3/4" [64 x 114 cm]) (Learn More)

Comando Della 18a Legione M.V.S.N. (literally translates to "Command of the 18th Legion M.V.S.N."), the 1932 Italian poster with information on joining the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale ("Voluntary Militia for National Security"), commonly known as the Blackshirts. The M.V.S.N. was originally the paramilitary wing of the National Fascist Party and, after 1923, an all-volunteer militia of the Kingdom of Italy under Fascist rule. Its members were distinguished by their black uniforms and their loyalty to Benito Mussolini. Their methods became harsher as Mussolini's power grew, and they used violence and intimidation against Mussolini's opponents. In 1943, following the fall of the Fascist regime, the MVSN was integrated into the Royal Italian Army and disbanded.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this special poster was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that the theater that used this poster glued the pieces together before putting them on display (this is typical of many actual theater-used posters in multiple pieces). Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. The two pieces have been glued together before putting it was put on display. It is printed on a very light paper that tends to crease and it is somewhat fragile. There is some writing at upper left and some slight discoloration and paper loss in the upper horizontal fold. Still, the historical poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and after linenbacking with some restoration it would look great!
