An Original 1941 (from the first release of this movie in England) Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 10" x 15" [25 x 38 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) The Mark of Zorro, the 1940 Rouben Mamoulian south-of-the-border masked hero romantic action adventure thriller ("The jagged mark of his sword struck terror to every heart - but one!"; "Who was the bold masked adventurer whose mocking laughter left terror in every heart - but one?"; "Based on the story by Johnston McCulley") starring Tyrone Power Jr. ("in the most famous of all screen roles"; in the title role as Zorro/Don Diego Vega), Linda Darnell (just 16 years old during filming!), Basil Rathbone, Gale Sondergaard, Eugene Pallette, Montagu Love, J. Edward Bromberg, Robert Lowery, Chris-Pin Martin, and Janet Beecher NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that one would prefer to own the U.S. version of this pressbook, but we have never auctioned it, and it is surely extremely rare! But this English pressbook has a wonderful completely different image of Power over a giant Z that we have not seen on any other movie paper from this title. In addition, English pressbooks from this time are also extremely rare, given the massive paper shortages at this time. In fact, this pressbook has "Under the present abnormal conditions all prices quoted in this Campaign Book are liable to alteration" printed at the bottom of the back cover. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut and it is folded across the middle. There are some scuffs and faint creases scattered on the covers, but the pressbook is otherwise in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
