An Unfolded French Advertising Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 45 1/2" [80 x 116 cm]) (Learn More) Chocolat Pailhasson, the 1905 French advertising poster promoting the purchase of Pailhasson chocolate bars, and featuring art of two boys fighting over a chocolate bar on the ground. Note that Chocolat Pailhasson is the oldest chocolate house in France and was founded in 1729 in Lourdes. It was the favorite chocolate of Empress Eugenie and Pope Leo XIII If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a 4 1/2" tear at upper right that has been repaired with tape from the back that very slightly bleeds through to the front and there are some smaller tears and small areas of paper loss in a few portions of the blank borders. A few of the smaller border tears are also repaired with tape from the back. The poster was folded over once horizontally at upper center leaving a light crease. Most of those few defects affect blank paper and the majority of the poster's art is in nice condition, especially given its age, and if linenbacked the poster would look absolutely fantastic!
