An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Father Brown, Detective, the 1935 Edward Sedgwick religious priest detective mystery crime melodrama ("The Police Wanted His Body! A Lovely Girl Wanted His Heart! Father Brown Wanted His Soul!"; based on the "Father Brown" detective novels by G.K. Chesterton; about a priest who tries to stop a thief from stealing a valuable diamond encrusted cross, but he is more interested in saving the man than the jewels!) starring Walter Connolly (in the title role as Father Brown), Paul Lukas, Gertrude Michael, Robert Loraine, Una O'Connor, and Virginia Weidler. Note that this is one of two movies based on this same story by G.K. Chesterton. It was remade in 1954 as simply "Father Brown", with Alec Guinness in the lead role. Walter Connolly's interpretation tries to humanize the priest, and viewers are divided as to who did the better job of portraying the priest/detective (apparently Chesterton thought Guinness did a much better job!).

Important Added Info: Note that first release 1935 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We had only auctioned a one-sheet and a herald from this movie (but no lobby cards) until we received this best scene lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good to fine. There is a tiny pinhole in the bottom left blank corner and near the center of the bottom blank border. Otherwise, the card is in really excellent condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
