An Original Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 11" x 13" [28 x 33 cm]; 340 pages) (Learn More) Leni Riefenstahl: Five Lives, the 2000 Angelika Taschen illustrated biographical book detailing the life of controversial German film director, Leni Riefenstahl, who was a German actress and director in the 1920s and 1930s. She made the mistake of filming The Olympiad, Triumph of the Will, Victory of Faith, and Day of Freedom all of which glorified Hitler's Third Reich, though Leni always defended herself as naive at the time and that she would never have made those films had she known what Hitler was really about. She didn't make another film for 50 years! After she quit the movies entirely, she became a noted photographer (often of African natives), and towards the end of her life, she began taking photos while diving underwater! She passed away in 2003, having lived one of the most extraordinary lives. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
