2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Mighty Lak A Rose, the 1923 Edwin Carewe silent romantic crime redemption melodrama ("One in poverty - the other in darkness. A love tryst to each other made. When the light Pierced - did she remember?"; "A symphony of life and love in the high and low places by Curtis Benton"; a sentimental story of a blind violinist who is used as a decoy by a gang of crooks; but her purity rubs off on them, and they decide to "go straight", but they realize they want to pull one last job so they can get the money for her to have an operation that will let her see again!) starring James Rennie, Sam Hardy, Anders Randolf, Harry Short, and Dorothy Mackaill (in the title role as Rose Duncan). Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that these cards were made at a time when many cards were being hand colored. In the days immediately following World War I, there were a huge amount of returning veterans who could not find jobs, and labor was cheap and plentiful. This likely explains why the studios began hand-coloring lobby cards. This was incredibly time consuming, because it was done to every single card one by one. As economic conditions improved in the country, and as printing technology also improved, these methods of decorating cards vanished!

Condition: good to very good. Both cards were hand-colored (see above). One is in nice condition with some minor border defects. On the other, the red paint used in the left of the card has gotten wet and "run" (one could have a restorer remove the red paint, and either have it re-painted or leave it). Please bear in mind this significant defect and look at our super-sized image because bidding on these cards.
