An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12 1/2" x 19" [32 x 48 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More)

Baby, Take a Bow, the 1934 Harry Lachman juvenile family Depression Era reformed-criminal-with-family-goes-straight musical comedy ("'Come on in... Let's have some fun!'"; "America's newest rave... singing, dancing, laughing") starring Shirley Temple (in her first top billed role, one of the first of her many very successful movies, all with a similar theme!; "The biggest little star in pictures"), James Dunn, Claire Trevor, Alan Dinehart, Ray Walker, and Dorothy Libaire. Note that Shirley Temple had appeared in several shorts and in a few features before this, and the public loved her, and she was given top billing in this movie, and it is easy to see why when you watch the movie! The movie concerns Dunn, who is a reformed criminal who wants to go straight and live with his pretty wife and baby daughter, but a gangster from his past and a detective who doesn't believe he is reformed make it hard for him to do so. But the movie comes to life whenever Temple is on the screen!

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: fair, NO CUTS. The pressbook is somewhat fragile and it was folded across the middle. There is paper loss in the lower left corner and middle right of all pages. There are some tears and stains around the edges, as well as separation at the left and right of the horizontal fold. There is a stain in the middle left of the back cover that affects the style B 1sh and 24sh images.
