His most successful roles were in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Jolson Story (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and the Preston Sturges movies: Sullivan's Travels, The Lady Eve, The Palm Beach Story, The Miracle of Morgan's Creek, Hail the Conquering Hero, and The Great McGinty. He played Uncle Charlie on TV's "My Three Sons" (replacing William Frawley, who had played "Bub", who had passed away). Demarest passed away in 1983 at the age of 91. Important Added Info: Note that these stills all feature a specific actor or actress (sometimes portraits, but often in a scene from a movie that they were in). They come from the collection of Ken Jones, who was an author of many books about old-time actors, including many character actors. He collected on all the stars that he enjoyed, and this is a rare opportunity to get a number of stills at one time from this specific star! Condition: good to very good.
