An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) La Dolce Vita (sometimes referred to as "Federico Fellini's La Dolce Vita"; literally translates to "The Sweet Life"), the classic 1960 (released in the U.S. in 1961) Federico Fellini (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) French/Italian romantic melodrama ("Uncut uncensored now for all to see... the nights, the drunken revels, the sin and the sinners, the perverted decadence of the jet set rich who live what they call 'the sweet life'"; "The most talked about - the most shocked about film of our years"; about a successful Italian movie critic who is dissatisfied with the emptiness of his life, even though he is surrounded by rich and famous people and has a beautiful girlfriend, and he yearns to understand why) starring Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Anouk Aimee, Yvonne Furneaux, Magali Noel, Lex Barker, Jacques Sernas, Alain Cuny, Annibale Ninchi, Walter Santesso, Nadia Gray, and Franca Pasut. Note that Astor Pictures, which had been known for mostly re-releasing classic U.S. movies in the 1940s and 1950s, acquired the rights for the first American release of this classic Italian movie, which they released on April 19, 1961. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that there are two styles of Argentinean poster that were created for the first release of this movie in Argentina. The style offered here has a photo montage of all the lead actors. The other style has full-color artwork of Anita Ekberg. The second poster was apparently released in conjunction with a promotion from Aerolineas Argentinas, for their logo is printed within the poster at bottom right. There is also mention of the soundtrack in the bottom left of that poster, which is not on this poster. Condition: good to very good. There is a censor stamp in the lower right corner of the poster. There are smudges in the borders and background at top and bottom that appear to be from a printing defect. There is a small label on the back of the poster at upper left but it does not appear to have any effect on the front. There is a small amount of tattering along the foldlines and edges of the poster. Overall, the poster's defects are pretty minor and it seems likely that a restorer could back this poster and it will display quite nicely with very little paint restoration needed (although I can imagine many collectors would be very happy with it as is!).
