Date Sold 5/11/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Toy Wife, the 1938 Richard Thorpe Louisiana historical romantic love triangle melodrama ("She said, 'Make the most of life and love'"; about a disturbed but beautiful 16 year-old girl who inflicts misery, first by stealing her sister's fiance and then being unfaithful to him after he marries her, and being a terrible mother to their child) starring Luise Rainer, Melvyn Douglas, Robert Young, Barbara O'Neil, and H.B. Warner. Note that Luise Rainer, who had won back to back Best Actress Oscars in 1936 and 1937, was solely offered parts like this after those wins, and she became disenchanted with Hollywood, and retired from the movies the year this movie was made. She made a few non-Hollywood movies over the rest of her life. Getting away from Hollywood obviously agreed with her, because she passed away in 2014 at the age of 104! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair to good. There is a jagged 6" tear in the lower left that was repaired with tape from the back, and there is paper loss in the top right corner, with a few faint stains scattered in the image.
