Thomas Meighan was an actor from the 1910s to the 1930s. He was a top leading actor from the late 1910s through the late 1920s. Some of his movies include: Why Change your Wife, The Forbidden City, and Manslaughter. He passed away in 1936 at the age of 57.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is from a set of special personality posters done by Paramount Pictures in circa 1918. There was one poster each for their most important stars, and they were printed the size of half-sheets exactly, and theater owners would be offered them when they were showing a movie with that star. This is from the earliest Paramount set I know of, and the posters from it are extremely rare!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a 4" x 10" area of paper loss in the top left, extending into the background and the top of Meighan's hair. There were creases, smudges, tears, and some tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, and the restorer did a pretty good job of re-creating the missing area at top left, but you can see signs of restoration in that area.
