eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result n147 BOOM TOWN linen Spanish movie poster '44 Gable, Tracy, Lamarr Date Sold 9/26/2006Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Undated (probably 1944; from the first Spanish release of this movie) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 39") (Learn More) Boom Town, the 1940 Jack Conway Texas oil drilling romantic love triangle adventure melodrama ("Devil-May-Care Men Fought For Girls And Gold"; "The big all-star dramatic sensation!"; "Based on the story by James Edward Grant") starring Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Claudette Colbert, Hedy Lamarr, Frank Morgan, Lionel Atwill, Chill Wills, Minna Gombell, Marion Martin, and Carlotta Monti (who is in the film but not credited on IMDb). Note that in the very late 1930s and early 1940s, MGM had so many major stars under contract that they could put four of their biggest in a single movie, as they did with this great one! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we can't say for sure when this poster was first released in Spain. The poster clearly LOOKS to be from the 1940s, and it would seem to surely be from the very first Spanish release, but whether that happened in 1940, or right after World War II is something we do not know. If anyone knows more about when this movie was first released in Spain, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had very tiny paper loss at each crossfold and minor wear along the foldlines. There were creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss in the top right corner, and in the bottom 12" of the right border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed. The restorer did little to touch up the right border defects, likely because they are in the blank border, and the restorer likely rightfully assumed that area will not show when the poster is framed.
