An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Joe (So You Want) McDoakes Comedies, the 1946 stock poster that could be used by theaters showing the "So You Want..." comedy shorts starring George O'Hanlon as Joe McDoakes. Theaters could order this poster and use it for any of the 63 shorts. The poster had a blank area near the bottom where the name of the short being shown could be added.

Important Added Info: Note that this stock poster has a studio issued snipe for one of the specific entries in this series, "So You Want To Be a Gambler", from 1948 (because this stock poster remained in use for seven years), and this was the only poster created for this comedy short, so the only way someone with a gambling collection could have this movie represented in their collection would be by owning this poster!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and tiny bits of paper loss in the vertical foldline between the middle and bottom crossfolds, with some faint water staining scattered down the center of the poster and some water stains around the edges. It had creases, smudges, and scuffs in the top border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
