An Original Vintage Unfolded Circus Poster (measures 28" x 41") (Learn More) Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus, a circa 1953 circus poster featuring an image of "Mister Mistin, Jr." ("John Ringling North presents the Child Wonder of the World"; "Don't Miss Mister Mistin, Jr."). Apparently, the child pictured on the poster was a world champion xylophone player, and we don't know if he had other talents beyond that musical instrument. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 28" x 41". Condition: good. Someone put much masking tape on the back of the left, top, and right borders, and it has dried over the years and caused the poster to be rippled and creased in those areas. There was a large snipe glued to the bottom border of the poster, and the snipe is long gone, but there is paper residue from the snipe along the bottom border. There are many vertical creases scattered across the poster. This is the sort of poster that responds really well to restoration! The tape can be professionally removed, and it is likely that some or all of the ripples and creases can be removed during the linenbacking process. After proper linenbacking, the poster will look great, and it likely will have little paint restoration anywhere in the image. Learn More about condition grades
