An Original Undated (probably 1940s; possibly from the first release of this movie in Argentina) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More) Mysterium des Geschlechtes (literally translates to "Mystery of Sex"), the 1933 Lothar Golte Austrian sexploitation sex-change medical melodrama starring Renee Lansky, Otto Hartmann, Traute Braun, and George Moser. Note that this film still exists and was recently shown by Film Archiv Austria at an exhibition called Sex in Wien (Sex in Vienna). Note that the only poster that we have seen for this film is Argentinean under the title El Misterio de los Sexo. We were unsure what film that poster was advertising until 2017, when an advanced collector researched the matter and discovered that it was promoting Mysterium des Geschlechtes! Artist: Osvaldo Venturi Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We auctioned it six years ago, when it was unbacked, and the person who bought it from us had it backed, and it is that very same poster that we are auctioning here, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned (and also the ONLY item from this movie we have ever seen)! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had darkened, more so around the edges, and was fragile. It had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds and in the borders, with small paper loss near the center of the left blank border. It had a 3" tear in the top that entered into the left of the first "I" of "MISTERIO". It had a foreign stamp in the lower right of the image and a small rating stamp in the girl's dress. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer left alone the two stamps described above (see our image).
