An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 32 pages) (Learn More)

Box Office Twenty, the 1928-29 campaign book for Rayart Pictures. Rayart was a small studio owned by W. Ray Johnston, but he had dreams of becoming a major studio, and he prepared this elaborate campaign book with some nice 2-color and 3-color ads (both full-page and two-page spreads) for their 20 upcoming movies. Rayart Pictures became Raytone Pictures when sound came in, and in 1933, they merged with Sono Art-World Wide Pictures (owned by Trem Carr) to form Monogram Pictures, which became a very successful small studio, mostly remembered for westerns. Monogram dissolved in 1935 but was revived in 1937, by Johnston, the former owner of Rayart Pictures, and in 1946, he was able to create Allied Artists, which released more expensive movies than Monogram had been able to create (one of their best remembered releases was Invasion of the Body Snatches in 1956).

Condition: very good to fine. There is a stamp in the top left of the cover and some smudges in that area, but otherwise, the campaign book is in excellent condition!
