An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Black Camel, the 1931 Hamilton MacFadden Honolulu Hawaii Asian detective mystery crime thriller ("Charlie Chan's Latest Thriller"; based on the novel by Earl Derr Biggers) starring Warner Oland (as Charlie Chan), Sally Eilers, Bela Lugosi, Dorothy Revier, Victor Varconi, William Post, Jr., and Robert Young (in his first credited role). Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 22 lobby cards that were discovered under a floor! All of the cards have darkened, and all have staining and holes (mostly around the edges). These are all extremely rare lobby cards, and any of them can be restored by an expert professional. Since a top restorer can remove much of the darkening and staining through chemical means, and since many of the defects are in the borders, these cards will look great after professional restoration, and most of them will require little paint restoration within the image. Note that this card has a fair amount of smudges within the image which will make it more difficult to restore than some of the other cards in this group! Condition: good.
