Date Sold 5/19/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 6 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Mary Pickford was a Canadian actress from the 1900s to the 1930s. She was one of the top silent actresses, who specialized in playing young girl roles as an adult, and she was called "America's Sweetheart", and when she married Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. in 1920, the country rejoiced (and the country mourned when they divorced in 1936!). Some of her movies include: Little Annie Rooney (in the title role), Sparrows, My Best Girl, Coquette (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role), and Tess of the Storm Country. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: Note that this was from a special set of publicity photos that were sent to publicize Mary Pickford's new novel, The Demi-Widow. As part of the publicity for this book, Ms. Pickford went to the J.W. Robinson department store and autographed copies, and an astounding 17,000 people showed up! Two stills that show the exterior images of the department store have an ink pad stamp on back that reads "Photo by 'Dick' Whittington" (and they are printed on front at lower right with the same information.) The still pictured at upper left has a snipe glued on back (indicating that the image on front was enlarged to "life-size" to be used as a window display at the department store!) Note finally that this auction also includes a loose paper snipe telling about the event, and also the printed glassine envelope this item originally came with. Condition: very good. The still pictured at upper left has a few light creases but overall the set has its original envelope (see above) and are in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
