An Original Vintage Theatrical Local Theater Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) a local theater window card advertising the complete program from the week of October 31 for Star Theatre in Concord (Massachusetts?), comprising the following movies: Underworld, the 1927 Josef von Sternberg silent crime film noir starring George Bancroft, Clive Brook, and Evelyn Brent, Fred Kohler and Helen Lynch AND The Small Bachelor, the 1927 William A. Seiter silent melodrama starring Barbara Kent, George Beranger, Carmelita Geraghty, Gertrude Astor and George Davis AND The Bush Leaguer, the 1927 Howard Bretherton silent comedy starring Monte Blue, Clyde Cook, Leila Hyams, William Demarest and Richard Tucker AND Judgment of the Hills, the 1927 James Leo Meehan silent melodrama starring Virginia Valli, Frankie Darro, Orville Caldwell and Frank McGlynn Jr AND Foreign Devils, the 1927 W.S. Van Dyke silent cowboy western starring Tim McCoy, Claire Windsor, Cyril Chadwick, Frank Currier and Emily Fitzroy AND The Thirteenth Juror, the 1927 Edward Laemmle silent mystery thriller starring Anna Q. Nilsson, Francis X. Bushman, Walter Pidgeon, Martha Mattox and Sidney Bracey. Note that Walter Pidgeon was born in 1897, and started making silent movies in the mid 1920s, but he had limited success. He had a wonderful speaking voice, but that did not lead to stardom in early sound movies. Finally, in 1937, at the age of 40, MGM put him under contract, but still limited him to supporting roles. His "big break" finally came in 1941 with "How Green Was My Valley", and he became one of MGM's top stars of the early 1940s (no doubt helped by so many other male stars being away at war). He stayed with MGM for the remainder of his career. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
