An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More)

The Unbeliever, the 1918 Alan Crosland silent World War I (WWI) United States Marine Corps (USMC) military melodrama serial ("A modern story of romance and action based upon the story 'The Three Things' by Mary Raymond Shipman Andrews"; "In seven parts"; "Presented by The Thomas A. Edison Studios"; about an "upper class" American who thinks that joining the military is for the lower classes, but then he joins the U.S. Marines, and learns through experience that he was completely wrong, and he becomes a hero on the battlefield!) starring Raymond McKee, Marguerite Courtot, Erich von Stroheim (in one of his earliest credited roles!), Kate Lester, and Frank DeVernon. Note that the German villain in this movie is played by Erich Von Stroheim (who was oddly billed as "Karl Von Stroheim"), and that many genuine U.S. Marines appeared in the battle scenes! Note that this movie was produced by "Perfection Pictures". This was created in 1917 by a merger of three legendary film companies of the earlier 1910s, Essanay, Thomas A. Edison, Inc., and George Kleine. We know that Perfection Pictures produced at least a couple dozen movies between 1917 and 1925, and we suspect that they also re-released some movies from the above three studios that were made prior to 1917. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see!

Condition: very good. Some of the black tape is missing, but is otherwise in nice condition!
