An Original Vintage Movie Studio Book (measures 8 1/4" x 11 1/4" [21 x 29 cm]; 185 pages) (Learn More) The Paramount Pep Club 1926 Annual ("A Clan of Good Fellows"), the 1926 Paramount studio tribute book, sent to members of the Paramount Pep Club (which was basically a club created by Adolph Zukor, the head of Paramount Pictures, for companies that wanted to sell their products to the many Paramount theaters all over the world); apparently, Zukor had figured out yet another way to make money out of his studio! This book contains 185 pages, which have just a few articles about Paramount, but is packed with ads from the many companies that belonged to the Paramount Pep Club. What makes this book a special interest to all movie paper collectors, are the fantastic pages that have "tipped in" images of Paramount's greatest stars ("tipped in" means that the photos were carefully glued in to each individual single page of every book printed). Note that the book from 1925 (the previous year) had only included a relatively small number of full-page images of Paramount top stars, but apparently that book got a great reception (or maybe Zukor realized this was a great advertising opportunity, or maybe it reflected Paramount's rising good fortunes in Hollywood), because for this year, they drastically upped the number of images (and pages), and all of the images are "tipped in" (see above). Some of the stars pictured include Gloria Swanson, Harold Lloyd, Clara Bow, Adolphe Menjou, Bebe Daniels, and of special interest to many collectors, W.C. Fields and Louise Brooks! There is also a full-page image of the incredible "Paramount Building", a massive skyscraper that Paramount had built in New York City! Note that the book has really cool embossed burgundy covers with a gold circular emblem of the Paramount Pep Club, including the famous Paramount logo. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this particular volume was presented to Agnes F. Mengel, who was a member of Paramount's Board of Governors (her name is on the inside of the book). Condition: very good. There is very slight staining on the first two interior pages, but otherwise, the book is in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
