An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Naughty Duchess, the 1928 Tom Terriss silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("Adapted from the novel 'The Indiscretion of the Duchess' by Sir Anthony Hope"; about a duke who is on a train, and a woman bursts in his compartment and says the police are after her, and asks him to pretend she is his wife; he does so, but a detective who is suspicious stays on the train, and he must continue the deception, and even later at the hotel; fortunately, it turns out the detective just wanted her to testify in a case, and of course, by then they have fallen in love!) starring Eve Southern, H.B. Warner, Duncan Renaldo, Maude Turner Gordon, and Gertrude Astor, and Martha Mattox. Note that we would think that this movie might have given the writers the inspiration for the great scene in Alfred Hitchcock's 1935 "The 39 Steps", where there is the same sort of "train deception", only the sexes are reversed, and the lady in question does not cooperate.
