Date Sold 11/28/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) John Philip Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever (released outside the U.S. as "It Beats the Band" and as "Marching Along", likely because "Stars and Stripes" meant little to non-U.S. audiences!), the 1953 Henry Koster patriotic musical ("Strike Up The Band! Here Comes The Greatest Musical Show On Earth!"; "Based on 'Marching Along' by John Philip Sousa"; "I strike up the band! Here comes the King of musical Shows!"; "Screen play by Lamar Trotti, Screen story by Ernest Vajda"; a fictionalized biography of John Philip Sousa) starring Clifton Webb (as John Philip Sousa), Debra Paget, Robert Wagner, Ruth Hussey, Finlay Currie, Roy Roberts, and Tom Browne Henry NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: There is a studio-issued corrective credits snipe over the top tagline (it originally read "Strike Up The Band! Here Comes The Greatest Musical Show On Earth!"; apparently, someone felt that didn't make much sense!). Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. There is a snipe along the upper edge (see above). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
