An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #5 English Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures approximately 41" x 85") (Learn More) The Belle of the Gambling Den, the 1921 H. B. Parkinson English silent England London Scotland Yard detective crime mystery short (Episode 5 of "Secrets of Scotland Yard"; "Tales from the life of a great detective"; "featuring The Detective Himself Ernest Haigh"; "In and around the west end of London, there are always 'pigeons' waiting to be plucked - young fellows about town with money to burn are always an easy proposition in the hands of a smart fashionably dressed woman ----- she had a luxuriously furnished flat whereto the 'pigeon' was first invited -- a little supper -- a little music -- a little gamble ----- oh it was so easy."; "See HAIGH in this fascinating story of London life") starring Ernest Haigh (apparently a real-life detective who played himself in this series of movies), Geoffrey Benstead (who played Inspector Haigh's friend throughout the series, and was likely his "Dr. Watson"), and Suzanne Morris (as Inspector Haigh's wife), John Stuart, and Colette Brettel. Note that in the days before regular serial movies became quite popular, it was not uncommon for filmmakers to make many "episodes" of movies starring the same characters, and they were often referred to as "episodes", but they were not chapters of a serial in the later sense, as each was an independent short movie (they were more like episodes of a TV show, although of course, this was long before TV was invented). There is little known about many of the individual episodes of many of these "series" of late 1910s and early 1920s movies. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this English movie! This English three-sheet was printed in 3 sections. Note that the three sections of the poster are EXTREMELY fragile, and they were only partially folded, to the point where the folded poster now measures roughly 22" x 28". We will not attempt to re-fold the poster completely, because it is far too fragile for that, and instead will send the poster in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30". This package will cost more to send, so please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the added shipping cost! Condition: good. The poster is very fragile, and someone put white conservation tape on the back of small parts of several foldlines. There are a few small areas of paper loss on some foldlines and in parts of the blank borders. The poster absolutely needs to be professionally linenbacked, but once it is, it will look great, and it will only have a relatively small amount of paint restoration in the image.
