An Original Vintage Unfolded German "A0" Poster (33x47; measures 33" x 47 1/2" [84 x 121 cm]) (Learn More) Das Gluckhafte Schiff (literally translates to "The Lucky Ship"), the 1933 German poster promoting an artist and costume ball event that was held at the Vier Jahreszeiten in Munich, Germany from February 21st to the 27th, and featuring art of three sailors (inspired by Soviet constructivism and Rosta posters). If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: L. Protzen Important Added Info: Note that this poster is one of a remarkable collection of 46 pre-World War II German posters that we were consigned (and we are auctioning them in 46 separate auctions). They date from the 1880s to the late 1930s, but most are from the 1920s and 1930s. Posters from this time period are extremely scarce, due to the massive paper shortages in Germany during World War II. Many of these posters are for specific events that were held, and naturally, those posters would figure to be even more rare, since they could only have been used prior to the date of the event. This is a rare opportunity to purchase these extremely rare posters! Also note that this German A0 poster measures 33" x 47 1/2" [84 x 121 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a tear in the left and right borders that had tape on the back that bled through to the front. Someone put 1 1/2" wide brown paper tape on the back of the bottom border, but fortunately, it does not have much effect on the front. Someone put some tape on the back of the entire top border where there had been a few small tears, and that tape has bled through to the front, but only in the blank border.
