eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5s0070 UNIVERSAL 1945-46 campaign book 1945 with 3 great full-color 13x21 serial posters, very rare! Date Sold 9/6/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/4" [27 x 34 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Universal 1945-46, the 1946 serial campaign book ("Streamlined entertainment for the greater enjoyment of your patrons") sent by Universal to theaters to try to get them to book their upcoming serials: Secret Agent X-9, Lost City of the Jungle, Royal Mounted Rides Again, and Scarlet Horseman. The book is softcover and the covers are a folder printed on a single sheet that is folded twice to create eight "pages". Within the folder are four wonderful 13 1/4" x 20" full-color posters folded in half, one for each of the above serials, and they are blank on the back (sometimes these have been discovered individually, and are sold as "trade ads", but they were removed from this special serial campaign book). Obviously, the owner of this could frame any of those four full-color posters individually, or they could keep them together in the campaign book. Also note that the latest Universal hardcover yearbook we have auctioned is from 1940-41. We suspect that with the start of World War II, and paper shortages, Universal stopped making elaborate hardcover campaign books. We imagine that after the war ended, they may have made a hardcover or softcover campaign book for their "regular" movies in addition to this special serial one, but if there is such a "Universal 1945-46" regular campaign book, we have never seen it. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, this 8-page campaign book originally contained four posters (as noted on the cover). HOWEVER, THIS EXAMPLE OF THIS CAMPAIGN BOOK HAS ONLY THREE OF THE POSTERS (the one for "Lost City of the Jungle" is NOT present). We once before auctioned a complete example of this campaign book, and that sold for $410. Condition: fair to good. Only three of the four posters originally included with this campaign book are present (see above). Of course, the three that are present could be framed and displayed individually, but that would be the choice of the new owner of this. Learn More about condition grades
