An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 28" x 39 1/2" [71 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

It's Great to Be Alive, the 1933 Alfred L. Werker musical romantic fantasy comedy (about an pilot who crash lands on an island and finally returns home to find that he is the last fertile man on Earth, which naturally causes many, many women to chase after him!) starring Raul Roulien, Gloria Stuart, Edna May Oliver, Herbert Mundin, and Joan Marsh. Note that this was long considered a "lost" film, meaning that there were no surviving examples of it, but a new print surfaced recently and was shown in 2017! Also note that it is a really strange and unusual movie that was intended to make Raul Roulien (a Brazilian actor who had a memorable song in "Flying Down to Rio") into an American romantic musical comedy star (like Maurice Chevalier), but apparently he was far from a Chevalier, and William Fox gave up on him, and he returned to Brazil in 1934!

Artist: Rumert
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1933 movie paper of any kind from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned two U.S. pressbooks from this movie until we received this Swedish poster!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tiny surface paper loss in the bottom of the right border, and two tears in the bottom border. Otherwise, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
