A 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Music Publicity Still (Learn More)

Diahann Carroll (born Carol Diahann Johnson) is a singer and actress from the 1950s to the present. She got her big break in 1951 at the age of 16, when she appeared on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts. She is probably best remembered for her role in TV's "Julia" in 1968, which was the first melodrama with a black African American in the solo lead role. Some of her movies include: The Split, Carmen Jones, Claudine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Porgy and Bess. She passed away in 2019 at the age of 83
Important Added Info: Note that this is one of six publicity stills we were consigned recently (our consignor also had a few similar publicity stills that were signed by the people pictured, and we recently auctioned them in our "all signed" auction). Our consignor's father in law was a "mobster" (named "Tony") in the 1940s and 1950s, and he obtained these publicity stills directly from performers at clubs he visited (and we are certain they are rare originals from that time).

Condition: good to very good.
