An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Virgins of Bali, the 1932 Deane H. Dickason Indonesia marriage rituals jungle documentary ("All-native cast") featuring Ni Wayan Tagel, Ni Wayan Grio, Ni Wayan Ugembon, T. Kaler, and I. Maria. This documentary followed two sisters, one 12 and one 16, and the 16 year-old is about to be married (as was the custom in Bali at that time), and the movie shows the intricate rituals that the families go through prior to the wedding (and no doubt the film's grosses were greatly increased by the fact that the sisters and many other women in the movies appeared topless!). Note that we have now seen lobby cards that are full-color and on a "heavy" paper consistent with that of 1930s lobby cards, but there are ones that are from Imperial Distributing, and others that are from Principal Adventures, and the Imperial ones have "COUNTRY OF ORIGIN U.S.A." in the bottom blank border, while the Principal ones have "MADE IN U.S.A." within the bottom edge of the image! We know that the movie was distributed through the "states rights" system, meaning that different distributors bought the rights to distribute it in different states. Therefore, we think it is extremely likely that the cards from both distributors are both from the first release in 1932, and we identify them as such. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Also note that this item contains some nudity, so we have placed a white bar over those areas for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual item does not have the white bars. Condition: fair to good. There are pinholes, stains, small paper loss, and some surface paper loss around the edges. There is a large light water stain in the top left corner. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the staining can be removed through chemical means (and other than the large faint stain, most of the defects are in the blank borders). But bear in mind the cost of restoration and look closely at our images before bidding on this card. Learn More about condition grades
