An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (SpanUS 1sh; printed in Spanish in the U.S. for Spanish speaking audiences; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Postman Always Rings Twice, the classic 1946 Tay Garnett romantic love triangle murder crime film noir ("Their Love was a Flame that Destroyed!"; "The Book that Blazed to Best-Seller Fame!"; "Based on the novel by James M. Cain"; about a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who gets a drifter to kill her husband, and it seems like they will get away with it, but will they?) starring Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames, Audrey Totter, and Alan Reed. Note that this movie was re-made in 1981 by Bob Rafelson, starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the English language version of this first release poster is quite rare and desirable and usually sells for between $2,000 to $3,000 at auction. This Spanish/U.S. version (see below) is the same poster with only slight differences in the crediting and studio logo, and is certainly an attractive alternative to that very expensive U.S. poster. Also note that this one-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and very minor fold and border wear. It had a few scuffs in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
