Date Sold 8/7/2016 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 8 1970s REPRODUCTION 8x10 stills from The Curse of the Cat People, the 1944 Robert Wise & Gunter von Fritsch feline fantasy horror thriller (produced by Val Lewton; "Strange, Forbidding, Thrilling -"; "The black menace creeps again!"; "- Slinking into the heart of a little girl who could not see the evil behind the smiling lips that could snarl, and feline fingers that could rip young flesh to shreds!"; "The beast-woman strikes!"; "Sensational return of the KILLER-CAT-WOMAN!"; "Ready to kiss or claw to shreds - the brooding beauty who changed into a killer-leopard! Strange, weird thrills that you'll never forget!") starring Simone Simon, Kent Smith, Jane Randolph, Ann Carter, Elizabeth Russell, Eve March, Julia Dean, Erford Gage, and Lancelot Victor Edward Pinard (billed as "Sir Lancelot"). Note that this movie has the same lead actors as "Cat People", but is in no way a sequel, but the studio insisted on making it sound like one, in order to try to trick people into thinking it was! Note that these come from a longtime collector who collected 1930s to 1950s horror stills from the late 1960s through the early 1990s. He knew that there were some stills (especially great ones) that were SO scarce that he might never acquire them, so on those, he would purchase high quality 8" x 10" reproductions (we know he acquired most of those in the early 1970s, especially because he "date stamped" many of them with when he received them!). We are auctioning a large number of his repro horror stills (including many from great 1930s and 1940s Universal horror titles) in many bulk lots in this set of auctions. This is a rare opportunity to acquire nice reproductions of extremely scarce stills (including fantastic images we have never seen before)! Note that in our last set of bulk lot auctions, we auctioned a large number of similar groups of repro stills, but those came from a different longtime collector, and those were primarily from 1950s sci-fi titles, while these are primarily from horror titles!
