An Original Vintage Printer's Test One Sheet Movie Poster (measures 21" x 33 1/4" [53 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Cujo, the 1983 Lewis Teague rabid St. Bernard canine dog horror thriller ("From Stephen King's novel comes a chilling tale of a quiet New England town and a horrible evil in the dead of summer."; "Now, There's a New Name for Terror."; "Based on the Novel by Stephen King"; "First 'Carrie' then 'The Shining' Now, author Stephen King unleashes the most terrifying fear of all..."; "a new name for terror"; "Screenplay by Don Carlos Dunaway and Lauren Currier") starring Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh-Kelly, Danny Pintauro, Ed Lauter, and Christopher Stone NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is almost certainly a "printer's test" (see below). It has the image from the international one sheet, but the credits and taglines are printed in a different color from that poster, and most important of all, the title and the tagline by it ("a new name for terror") were printed on the poster, but somebody (almost surely in the art department) airbrushed it out and the credits and taglines are overprinted on top of the original credits, which were airbrushed out). Since this is mounted on to foamcore and measures 21" x 33 1/4", we would say that it was almost certainly created early on and shown to studio people so that they could see how it would look with the credits and taglines in a different color, and possibly they were planning to do something different with the title before it was finalized (but this is all guesswork). Printer's test posters are rare, but ones made early on are even more rare. This poster was purchased from Van Eaton Galleries in 2019, and comes with a certificate of authenticity from that company. Also note that before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of posters as "test" posters. Because they needed to be shown to people at the studio, people in the art department, the stars, etc, they would print a number of test posters and distribute them to these people. Some of them would be fully trimmed, but often they would leave the color chart on the left edge of many of the posters, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster. Once these printer's test posters were shown to the various people in a position to "OK" them, the printer would print the full print run of the posters. Not only is a printer's test poster far more rare than a regular poster, but it is also 100% genuine as there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction! Condition: good to very good. The poster has been airbrushed and overpainted, but it was likely created that way (see our information above). It does have some slight discoloration on back of the foamcore itself but otherwise it is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
