Date Sold 8/6/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 14 pages) (Learn More) Steamboat Bill Jr. (released in some English-speaking countries as "Steamboat Bill Junior"), the classic 1928 Charles Reisner & Buster Keaton romantic father-son sailing ship adventure comedy (about a long lost son who returns to his tough, gruff sailor father, and he is initially a great disappointment to him) starring Buster Keaton (in the title role as William Canfield Jr.), Ernest Torrence, Tom McGuire, Tom Lewis, and Marion Byron. Note that this is the movie that includes the classic sequence of Buster Keaton in a hurricane, where the front of a house frame falls on top of him, and the window from the second floor saves him from death! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that only portions of this pressbook are present. It has pages 1 and 2, as well as pages 5, 10, 11, and 12, which are printed on a single sheet that opens to a large display of newspaper ads. Also present is the "mailing envelope", which was on the outside of United Artists pressbooks at this time, and the mailing envelope is two sheets. One has an image of the one-sheet with a mailing label area (so that the studio could mail this pressbook by itself without an envelope), and the other sheet had a tipped-in herald on the back, along with an ad for 5x7 portraits of Keaton. BUT WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THE REVERSE SIDE OF EACH MAILING ENVELOPE PAGE HAS THE POSTERS FOR THE MOVIE, WHICH ARE BOTH ONE-SHEETS, THE WINDOW CARD, BOTH THREE-SHEETS, AND THE SIX-SHEET AND 24-SHEET! Obviously, those two pages could be framed and would look great on the new owner's wall. However, only bid on this if you accept that you are only receiving some of the pages from the original pressbook, as described above. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Condition: poor to fair, WITH CUTS. Only some of the pages are present (see above). The four pages that were printed on a single sheet are separating on the folds. The two pages of the "mailing envelope" are separated down the middle and there are some small tears in parts of the borders of both pages and paper loss in the top left of one page that affects the top left background area of the 24-sheet. See our images to know exactly how this displays and what is affected. Learn More about condition grades
