An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 10" x 30") (Learn More) I Love a Soldier, the 1944 Mark Sandrich World War II (WWII) Home Front romantic military melodrama ("The story of 10,000,000 American Girls"; "The stars of 'So Proudly We Hail' together again!"; "Written by Allan Scott") starring Paulette Goddard, Sonny Tufts, Beulah Bondi, Barry Fitzgerald ("New Star Sensation of 'Going My Way'"), Walter Sande, Mary Treen, and Ann Doran NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that for a brief time during World War II (WWII) Australia printed their daybills in a 10" x 30" format (no doubt to conserve on paper, because they had been printing daybills in a 15" x 40" size, and by going to 10" x 30", they were able to print four daybills with the same amount of paper they used to print two!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkening around the edges, separation on the foldlines, and some faint smudges and stains scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
